Turkey begins anti-alcohol campaign

«When the world said - smoke like a Turk. Now, actually saying - fights with Smoking, as the Turks. We have adopted a very important law and banned Smoking in all enclosed areas. This law has been in effect for two years, and significantly changed the life of many Turkish citizens», - noted the Minister of health of Turkey Recep Akdag.

He also drew
attention to the fact that all countries should sign an agreement on the control over the production of alcoholic beverages.

«If Smoking is a cause of lung cancer, the alcohol - the cause of liver cancer and other diseases. Therefore, we are launching a campaign to combat the use of alcohol. I think that all countries of the world to sign a Treaty on the control over the production of alcoholic beverages and actively inform the population about the dangers to the health of alcohol and Smoking», - said the Minister.

Akdag also added that in Turkey the increase fines for Smoking in prohibited places and drinking alcoholic beverages.

At this point in Turkey for Smoking in enclosed public places violators are fined to the amount of 49 Turkish liras (about $ 28).
